As more people become busier with their jobs, families, and other parts of their schedule, the amount of time they have allocated for self grooming drastically diminishes. Triair is designed to be incorporated into any lifestyle, especially taking this new need for efficiency into consideration. This hair styler is a 3-in-1 device that curls, straightens, and blow-dries your hair.

How might we redesign hair styling tools to be more efficient for people with busy schedules?
A 3-in-1 blow dryer, hair straightener, and hair curler handheld device.
Redesigning a thrift shop find.
Our class was instructed to choose a handheld device to take apart, study, and redesign. The device I chose was a hair curler called the WonderWand Curling Iron, by Helen of Troy.
→ No interior spring - have to manually open and close device while curling hair.
→ Ergonomics - hurts my fingers and hand after using it for a few minutes.
→ Shape - shortness of handle is not ideal for safety (burns) & longer hair.
Created a user persona based off of the prompted user group our professor randomly selected for us:
"I'm focusing on my career right now, so I'm working crazy hours. I like things simple, sleek, and beautiful. I don't really have time or patience for poor quality products in my life."
→ Curved design - get to those hard to reach areas on your head more efficiently.
→ Coanda air technology automatic wrap - safer and just as effective as hot plates. Say goodbye to damaged hair.
→ Cordless - just set the Triair on the stand and it will start charging.
→ Smart Buttons - haptic technology. Long hold to power on. Tap the setting you want your Triair on for it to automatically start moving. Double tap to lock the setting while in use.
Triair has three different forms for maximum efficiency.
→ Blow dryer - Product will automatically move into a 90° position after selecting blow dry option. Air will expel outwards through the two halves on the ends.
→ Hair straightener - When in this form, the default stage is separated, so when a user clamps down on their hair and releases, it springs apart.
→ Hair curler - In this form, the two upper halves are firmly pressed together. Utilizing the Coanda effect, air is circulated around the cylindrical form, wrapping the user’s hair tightly into neat curls.
